MASERU, Dec. 17 -- Matlama FC were crowned Independence Cup (Top Four) champions after beating LCS 1-0 in the final on Sunday at Setsoto Stadium to end their 24-year drought in the competition.

The last time 'Tse Putsoa' won this competition was back in 1994, and the closest they had come to winning it in recent years was when they lost 1-0 to Lioli in the final of 2016.

En route to the final, Matlama had brushed aside LDF 2-1 in a very controversial fashion that resulted in match abandonment on Saturday. LCS, on the other hand, had stunned Bantu 1-0 to book a spot in the final.
