Lesotho, June 18 -- Across Lesotho and much of Africa, agriculture is not merely a livelihood, it is a lifeline and women are at the heart of it.
From the misty highlands of Thaba-Tseka to the fertile lowlands of Leribe, women are not only tilling the land but also sowing the seeds of change, resilience, and empowerment.
These women are more than just farmers but are the backbone of rural communities. They grow food to feed their families, sell produce to support household incomes, and pass on indigenous farming knowledge to the next generation.
Yet, despite their immense contributions, women in agriculture remain largely unrecognised, under-supported, and excluded from key agricultural and policy frameworks.
