Hyderabad, Feb. 6 -- A 21-year-old hotel management student turned to chain-snatching to pay off betting debts, leading to his arrest by L.B. Nagar police. The accused, Uppuleti Sashi Kumar from Mancherial district, was caught while moving suspiciously in Suryodaya Nagar Colony.
According to police, Sashi Kumar, who was studying in Hyderabad, became addicted to gambling and extravagant spending. To clear his debts, he targeted lone women for chain-snatching. He conducted recces in Chandrapuri Colony and, on February 3, snatched a 15-gram gold chain from a woman named Burra Rukmini while she was on a walk.
