Hyderabad, April 11 -- The Telangana High Court on Thursday heard a petition regarding the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act in private schools across the state. The petition was filed by social activist Tando Yugesh, who urged the court to direct the state government to enforce the Act, especially the provision mandating 25% free seats for students from economically weaker sections.
The petitioner pointed out that although the RTE Act was enacted 16 years ago, many eligible students in Telangana are yet to benefit from its provisions. He noted that several other states have already implemented the Act effectively in private schools.
