Hyderabad, Feb. 24 -- The Telangana High Court has heard a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding an Osmania Hospital doctor's alleged refusal to treat a woman patient due to her failure to present an Aadhaar card. The court questioned the government on the matter and directed the government counsel to submit a detailed report.
The petitioner's counsel informed the division bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Pal and Justice Renuka Yara, that the woman is homeless and survives by begging. When she approached Osmania Hospital for treatment, doctors allegedly denied her admission due to the absence of an Aadhaar card. The court expressed concern over the claim and questioned how such a situation could occur.
