Hyderabad, March 18 -- The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed the bill for the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SC). Addressing the House, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the Congress has always stood by Dalits since India's independence, providing them with key opportunities in governance and leadership.
Participating in the debate, the CM highlighted that Babu Jagjivan Ram was entrusted with significant ministerial responsibilities by the then central government, which enhanced his stature - a step in which the Congress played a crucial role. He also noted that Congress was instrumental in appointing Damodaram Sanjivayya as the country's first SC Chief Minister.
