Hyderabad, Feb. 4 -- The Telangana Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday issued notices to 10 Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs who had defected to the ruling Congress last year. The notices were issued based on BRS's petitions seeking their disqualification.
The defected MLAs have requested time to respond to the notices. This development follows the Supreme Court's recent directive to the Telangana Assembly to set a reasonable timeline for deciding on disqualification petitions. A bench comprising Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice S.V.N. Bhatti instructed senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Assembly Secretary, to consult the Speaker and update the court on the matter.
