India, April 30 -- The Telangana government appointed 2003-batch IPS officer Shahnawaz Qasim as the Director General of the Drugs Control Administration, transferring him from his current post as Secretary to the Chief Minister.



He has also been given full additional charge as Director of the Prohibition and Excise Department. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari issued a Government Order on Wednesday confirming the appointment.



Qasim succeeds V B Kamalasan Reddy, who retired on 30 April 2025.
