Hyderabad, Feb. 14 -- The historic main building of Secunderabad Railway Station, constructed in 1952, was demolished on Thursday as part of the station's modernisation project.



Originally built in 1874 under the Nizam's rule, Secunderabad Railway Station served as the headquarters of the Nizam Guaranteed State Railway until 1916. After nationalisation in 1951, a new structure, designed like a fortress in the Nizam-era architectural style, was built in 1952.
