Hyderabad, Feb. 23 -- Rescue operations are underway to save eight workers trapped in a tunnel collapse in Nagarkurnool district. The Indian Army has joined the efforts, along with a 24-member team from Singareni Collieries, 120 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), state police, and other emergency teams.
The incident occurred on Saturday at 8:30 AM when the upper section of the tunnel collapsed due to water pressure at the 14 km mark. As a result, three metres of water and sludge accumulated inside, trapping the workers. On Sunday, rescue teams, including the Army and NDRF, managed to reach the 13.5 km point inside the tunnel.
