Hyderabad, March 11 -- The Central Government has appointed Prof. Y. Lakshmi Srinivas as the first Vice-Chancellor of Mulugu Central Tribal University in Telangana. The Ministry of Education has issued orders confirming his appointment.



Prof. Srinivas, who was previously associated with Arora University, Hyderabad, will serve as the Vice-Chancellor for five years.



As per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, the Centre had promised to establish a Central Tribal University in Telangana. Accordingly, the university was set up in Mulugu district and later named after the famous tribal festival Sammakka Sarakka.
