India, April 12 -- Hyderabad police arrested seven members of a 60-member gang from Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, for stealing expensive sarees from busy clothing stores and malls. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Srinivas Kumar on Saturday revealed that the gang was systematically involved in saree theft cases across the city.
According to the ACP, the group operated in a highly organised manner. A day before the theft, gang members would conduct a detailed recce of their target shop. On the day of the theft, they would enter crowded apparel stores, distract staff and shop owners, and steal high-value sarees.
