India, June 30 -- Housing Minister P. Srinivas Reddy announced plans to transform Telangana into a hut-free state through the Indiramma Housing Scheme.
Speaking on Monday after reviewing the scheme's implementation with department officials, he said Telangana was the only state providing 5 lakh to poor families owning land for house construction, while those without land would get houses built on government land.
He stressed that the state government was committed to giving Indiramma houses to all eligible families, regardless of approvals from the central government. Under the scheme, 40 metric tonnes of free sand are being provided for each house as per Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's directive.
