India, July 9 -- Minister for Endowments Konda Surekha strongly condemned the attack on the woman Executive Officer of Bhadrachalam temple during an anti-encroachment drive.
She said the dispute over temple lands began after six mandals were merged with Andhra Pradesh due to a Central government decision. So far, 60 illegal constructions have come up on temple lands, despite repeated warnings to vacate.
Surekha said the attackers must be booked in Andhra Pradesh, as Telangana lacks jurisdiction. She also criticised the AP government for not cooperating fully. A letter has been sent to Andhra Pradesh seeking intervention, and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka has been asked to initiate discussions.
