Hyderabad, Jan. 18 -- The East Godavari police arrested a man on Monday at Nookalamma temple, in the Kakinada district, for breaking the tridents of a goddess. The accused has been identified as V. Lakshmana Rao (39), a butcher.

The temple priest found on 10 January that two tridents held by the goddess at the temple entrance were destroyed. Based on his complaint, a special team was formed by the Two-Town Police in Kakinada to locate and arrest the accused.

At the temple, the recently-installed CCTV cameras helped the police locate the defendant. The video clearly showed the man at the temple breaking up the tridents. The police nabbed Lakshmana Rao, a resident of Kakinada, on the basis of evidence, and seized a bicycle, a cell phone, a ...
