Hyderabad, April 3 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday issued orders to halt all ongoing government actions on the controversial Kancha Gachibowli lands after reviewing an interim report submitted by the Telangana High Court Registrar. The court also added the State's Chief Secretary as a respondent in the case and raised serious questions about the urgency and legality of the State's operations.
Justice B.R. Gavai, heading the bench, questioned the government's decision to act hastily and asked, "What was the emergency to begin such large-scale activity, and how can the law be taken into one's own hands?" The court directed the Chief Secretary to respond to these queries through an affidavit.
