India, May 20 -- The Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities have announced a 10% reduction in ticket fares, reversing a recent hike that drew widespread criticism. The revised fares will be implemented from 24 May.

The Metro had earlier raised the minimum fare from 10 to 12 and the maximum from 60 to 75, triggering backlash from daily commuters and opposition leaders. The fare hike was seen as a burden on regular passengers already grappling with rising living costs.

Following intense public outcry and political pressure, the Metro management decided to partially roll back the increase. Officials stated that the reduction aims to provide relief to passengers and reflect the administration's responsiveness to commuter concerns.
