Hyderabad, June 14 -- Former minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao strongly opposed the construction of the Bankacharla project by the Andhra Pradesh government on the Godavari River and urged the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government to convene an all-party meeting on the issue.
Speaking to the media, Harish Rao compared the project to the earlier Pattiseema and Pothireddypadu projects on the Krishna River, which he alleged were built to illegally divert water to Rayalaseema. He warned that the Bankacharla project is a similar attempt to divert Godavari water illegally. He claimed that all preparations for the project have been completed and tenders are likely to be invited next month.
