India, May 29 -- GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan instructed officials to take immediate and strict measures to prevent loss of life and property from dilapidated buildings in the Greater Hyderabad area, ahead of the monsoon season.
In a video conference held on Thursday evening with zonal commissioners and town planning officials, Karnan said the early arrival of rains, as forecast by the Meteorological Department, demands heightened vigilance. He ordered that families residing in weak structures be shifted to safer locations and the buildings be sealed without permitting any temporary repairs.
