Hyderabad, April 11 -- Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner E. V. Elamarthi on Thursday announced that the civic body collected over Rs 2,000 crore in property tax during the last financial year - a record achievement for the city.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at Banjara Bhavan in Banjara Hills, the Commissioner praised the efforts of the Revenue Department, including tax inspectors and bill collectors. He also expressed gratitude to property owners for their timely tax payments.

Elamarthi assured that every rupee collected through property tax will be spent carefully on developmental works across the city. He said GHMC's revenue would be exclusively used to improve civic infrastructure and services.
