India, June 17 -- Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday caught a woman assistant engineer of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) red-handed while accepting a bribe of 1,20,000 at the Kapra Circle office.

The accused, identified as Sarupa, had allegedly demanded a bribe from a contractor named Ram Reddy for approving his bill. Following repeated pressure from the official over the past few days, Ram Reddy approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.

Acting on the tip-off, ACB officers laid a trap and apprehended Sarupa while she was accepting the bribe amount. The entire sum was recovered from her possession. The accused was taken into custody, and a case has been registered.
