India, March 26 -- Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday clarified that the 400-acre land parcel in Gachibowli, which opposition parties claimed belonged to the University of Hyderabad (HCU), had only recently come under government possession and was never owned by HCU.



Speaking in the Telangana Assembly, the Chief Minister said that for the past 25 years, the land had been under the control of a private individual, Billi Rao. The land was originally allotted by the government to a private company over two decades ago. In 2006, the Congress-led government cancelled the allotment, following which the matter remained pending in court for years.
