Hyderabad, Feb. 15 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary and Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao has warned that the ruling Congress may face difficulties in the upcoming local body elections.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, he said Congress had failed to fulfil several election promises, leading to declining public trust. He demanded a white paper on the status of these commitments before the elections.
On electoral strategy, he said CPI would contest in its strongholds while supporting Congress in other areas. He confirmed CPI's backing for Congress candidates in the upcoming Graduate MLC elections, while discussions continue on the Teachers' MLC elections.
