Hyderabad, April 27 -- The Congress party on Saturday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to extend the polling hours in view of the hot summer and heat waves across the Telangana State.

Telangana Congress Senior Vice-President G Niranjan, in a representation made to Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj, said that the timing of the election was in mid-summer and at present, the people are suffering from the heat and heat waves. Even the authorities are also cautioning the public not to come out of their houses between 12 to 4 pm unless there is an urgent need.
