Hyderabad, July 2 -- A demand for disqualification of Forest Minister Konda Surekha from her post has intensified after former BRS MLA N. Narendra lodged a formal complaint with the State Election Commission.



The complaint cited recent remarks by Konda Surekha's husband, Konda Murali, who claimed in a press conference that Rs. 70 crore was spent to secure victory in the Assembly elections. BRS leaders argued that spending such huge personal sums amounted to a clear violation of election rules and was equivalent to purchasing votes, warranting Konda Surekha's disqualification as an MLA.
