India, May 3 -- Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday declared that the Centre's recent decision to conduct a caste-based census was a direct outcome of the Telangana government's initiative, calling it a major victory for the state.



Speaking to the media after laying the foundation stone for development works in Milnapalem village of Khammam district, Vikramarka said Telangana had set a national example by conducting a caste-based survey. He stated that the findings of the survey would guide the implementation of future welfare schemes and development programmes in the state.
