India, April 14 -- Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said that Telangana has set an example for the entire country by conducting a caste-based census. He emphasised that accurate data on caste populations will help governments frame effective welfare and development policies.
Speaking at a public programme in Mancherial district, organised by District Congress Committee president Sreekha and local MLA Premsagar Rao, Bhatti stated that the Congress government initiated the caste census within its first year in power, following the directive of party leader Rahul Gandhi. He said the census would provide clarity on the population of various communities, allowing the government to implement targeted welfare measures.
