India, April 7 -- Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka directed police officials to withdraw cases filed against students of the University of Hyderabad (HCU) who participated in protests against the alleged allocation of 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli.



The decision brought significant relief to the students, who had staged a series of demonstrations against the state government.



The directive was issued during a meeting at the Secretariat with members of the HCU Teachers' Association Sub-Committee, Industries Minister Sridhar Babu, Revenue Minister Srinivas Reddy, and representatives of civil society groups.
