India, March 25 -- The BJP Mahila Morcha on Tuesday attempted to lay siege to the Telangana Assembly, demanding that the Congress government fulfil its election promises made to women.
As the women marched towards the Assembly in a rally, police stopped them en route. Mahila Morcha president Dr Shilpa Reddy strongly criticised the government, alleging that women were once again ignored in the state budget.
Raising slogans, she questioned, "When will women receive the promised scooters, one tola gold, and 2,500 per month?"
As the situation grew tense, police detained the protesters and shifted them from the area.
