Hyderabad, July 15 -- BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao has issued a legal notice to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka over remarks holding him responsible for the suicide of Dalit student Rohith Vemula.
The notice follows Bhatti Vikramarka's statement made during a media interaction in Delhi, where he alleged that Ramchander Rao was to blame for Vemula's suicide at the University of Hyderabad. He criticised the BJP for appointing such a person as the party's state president, calling it a matter of shame.
Bhatti further alleged that the BJP had promoted a leader who encouraged the circumstances leading to Rohith Vemula's death, and said the party has no respect for Dalits and Adivasis.
