Hyderabad, April 22 -- Officials from the Hyderabad branch of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) raided a location in Kushaiguda on Monday, seizing 30,000 sanitary pads and 7,000 packaging labels that lacked the mandatory ISI mark.
The raid was conducted following a tip-off about large-scale storage of uncertified sanitary napkins. BIS officials confirmed that none of the seized products complied with IS 5405:2019 certification requirements. The BIS clarified that under a Gazette notification issued by the Government of India, certification under IS 5405:2019 has been made mandatory for sanitary pads in order to protect women's health.
