Hyderabad, Feb. 17 -- A total of 17 corporators have filed their nominations for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee elections.
The corporators who filed nominations include eight members from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), seven from Congress, while two candidates from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have also submitted their papers. However, BJP corporators have decided to stay away from the election process.
AIMIM has consistently secured seven seats in the Standing Committee elections over the years. This time, the party's candidates include Syed Minhajuddin, Abdul Wahab, Mohammed Saleem, Parveen Sultana, Samina Begum, Dr Ayesha Humaira, and Ghouseuddin Mohammed.
