In pursuance of the Government of India notification dated September 30, 2025, Shri Shirish Chandra Murmu took over as the Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India today (October 09, 2025) for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shri Murmu was Executive Director of the Reserve Bank before being elevated to the post of Deputy Governor.
As Deputy Governor, Shri Murmu will look after Department of Communication, Department of Government and Bank Accounts, Department of Regulation and Enforcement Department.
