The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India with effect from the FY2020-21 has been implementing a flagship scheme "Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)" with an investment of rs 20,050 crore in all States and Union Territories including in the State of Tamil Nadu. The PMMSY inter-alia provides support for acquisition of Deep-sea fishing vessels for traditional fishermen and procurement of boats (replacement) and nets for traditional fishermen.
