MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421010880 A) filed by Piramal Pharma Limited, Maharashtra, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'a process for the preparation of semaglutide.'

Inventor(s) include Taneja, Gaurav; Vishwakarma, Vijaykumar; Khandve, Pranav; and Kathiravan, Sindhuamuthan.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a process for preparing Semaglutide by solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). It describes a convergent synthesis by using different fragments including pseudoprolines in one or more of the fragments bound to a solid support."
