Government of India launched the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) on October 2, 2014 with the objective of making urban areas of the country Open Defecation Free (ODF) and for scientific processing of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) generated in the urban areas of the country including State of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
