NEW DELHI, June 24 -- A few years ago, some students from Kerala secured admission to various colleges affiliated with Delhi University. Among them were a significant number of Muslims. Their admissions were based on the marks they achieved in their plus two stage of education. However, some students and teachers close to the ruling establishment raised a hue and cry about it.

The result was the introduction of an eligibility test for admission to colleges in Central universities like Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
