ALIGARH, May 1 -- The Patent Office, Government of India, has granted a design patent to Dr. Faizan Ahmad, Assistant Professor, and Prof. Sadaf Zaidi of the Department of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for a fully automatic vacuum dryer with data recorder. The patent was registered on April 23, 2025.

This follows the earlier grant of a technology patent for the same invention on November 30, 2023, by the same office.

According to Dr. Faizan Ahmad and Prof. Sadaf Zaidi, the dryer ensures continuous and effective drying, enhances the quality of the dried product, reduces human effort, and minimizes experimental error.
