Aligarh, Sept. 29 -- e-Rumi" (Rumi Day) to commemorate the birth anniversary of the renowned Iranian Sufi poet Maulana Jalaluddin Muhammad Rumi, famously known as Maulana Rumi.

The event, held at the Faculty of Arts Lounge, was inaugurated by AMU Vice Chancellor Professor Naima Khatoon. The keynote speaker was Professor Qazi Jamal Hussain, a noted Urdu scholar. The session was presided over by Professor Azarmi Dukht Safavi, founder and advisor of the Institute of Persian Research, while Professor T.N. Satheesan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, attended as guest of honour. Professor MJ Warsi, former Chairman of the Department of Linguistics was the special guest.
