Dr. Swathi's presentation introduced a novel finding on chrysin-induced vestibular dysfunction. Chrysin, a natural flavonoid found in various fruits, vegetables, and mushrooms, is known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, anticancer, and neuroprotective properties. However, experimental findings suggest that its administration may also lead to neurological complications.
While investigating chrysin's role in morphine addiction, Dr. Swathi discovered that it could cause vestibular dysfunction, a condition affecting balance and spatial orientation. Her research elaborated on the possible mechanisms and signaling pathways involved.
