India, March 24 -- At least one person was killed and 15 others were injured after a US airstrike targeted a residential building in Yemen's capital Sanaa, media reports said.

A preliminary toll showed that "three children and two women" were among the injured due to the strike that took place in Asr, the western suburb of Sanaa, Xinhua news agency reported quoting Masirah TV.

Rescuers reportedly rushed to the spot and searched the rubble for possible survivors.

Locals described the strike as 'very violent'.
