India, Dec. 19 -- US authorities on Friday said the man suspected of carrying out a deadly shooting at Brown University, which left two people dead, has died by suicide, according to media reports.

The suspect was found dead on Thursday evening at a storage facility, officials said. He has been identified as Claudio Manuel Neves Valente.

In a joint statement, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, Providence Mayor Brett P. Smiley, the Providence Police Department, the Rhode Island State Police, the Boston Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the US Attorney's Office for the District of Rhode Island confirmed Valente's death.
