India, Jan. 12 -- India all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing IDFC First Bank ODI series against New Zealand after reporting acute discomfort in his left lower rib area.
Sundar experienced the issue while bowling during the first ODI at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the all-rounder will undergo furthermedical scans.
"He will undergo further scans, following which the BCCI Medical Teamwill seek expert opinion," the board said in an official statement.
As a result, Washington has been sidelined for the remaining twomatches of the series, prompting the Men's Selection Committee to nameAyush Badoni as his replacement.
