Islamabad/IBNS, Dec. 2 -- Amid growing alarm over jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's health, his supporters are staging mass protests in Islamabad and Rawalpindi despite a ban on public gatherings in the twin cities.

Khan, who has been incarcerated for over a year, has reportedly had no communication with anyone for nearly a month.

Authorities have enforced Section 144 in both cities ahead of demonstrations planned by Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Protesters have gathered outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi - where Khan has been held since August 2023 - and at the Islamabad High Court.
