India, Aug. 5 -- The US Embassy in India has issued a stern message to those Indians who are staying beyond their authorised period of stay in the country, and warned that they may face visa revocation and even possible deportation.

"Respect the terms of your U.S. visa and your authorized period of stay in the United States. Remaining in the United States past your I-94 'Admit Until Date' can lead to severe consequences such as visa revocation, possible deportation, and ineligibility for future visas," the Embassy wrote on X.

"Overstaying may permanently affect your ability to travel, study, or work in the United States," it said.

The X post was made amid Donald Trump's recent tariff threat to India over its Russian oil import.
