India, July 20 -- Over 20 people were injured as a vehicle drove into a crowd in Los Angeles' East Hollywood, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Five people are said to be critical, while around 8-10 people are in serious condition and 10-15 in fair condition, the department said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Santa Monica Boulevard.

In a statement, the LAFD said it is coordinating patient triage and transport at this time.

Victims were transported to hospitals and trauma centres.

The majority of the victims were females as they were waiting to enter a nightclub when the Nissan Versa struck them, along with a taco truck and a valet stand.
