India, Sept. 3 -- Two Indian students died and five others were injured in a road accident in the United Kingdom on Monday, police said.

The mishap occurred in Essex County.

The deceased Indian students were identified as Chaitanya Tarre and Rishi Teja Rapolu. They have arrived in the UK a few months ago to study in the country.

Police said five others were taken to hospital for treatment with 'serious' injuries.

"The drivers of the two cars - two men from Barking aged 23 and 24 - were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving," police said.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
