Kolkata/IBNS, Jan. 22 -- Actor-turned-politician Hiran Chatterjee's first wife, Anindita Chatterjee, approached the police on Wednesday night after news of his second marriage became public, media reports said.

The controversy erupted after Hiran, a BJP MLA from Kharagpur, posted pictures of his wedding with Ritika Giri at the Varanasi ghats.

She claimed Hiran often visited Kolkata from his constituency, staying with her and their daughter.

According to The Telegraph, the Anandapur Police Station will file a First Information Report (FIR) based on Anindita's complaint.
