India, Nov. 17 -- Over 40 Indians are feared dead after a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker near Medina in Saudi Arabia on Monday, media reports said.
The victims are assumed to be Indians with the majority of them from Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana.
The news has been confirmed by the Consulate General of India, Jeddah.
The accident occurred at 1 am when the group of pilgrims, who left Hyderabad on November 9, were returning to Medina after offering prayers in Mecca.
Most passengers were asleep when the collision occurred.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed "profound shock" over the incident and directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to obtain full details.
