India, Feb. 11 -- At least seven people were killed in a shooting at a school in northern British Columbia, Canada, on Tuesday, according to media reports.
Authorities said the suspected shooter was among the deceased. Two additional bodies were recovered from a residence linked to the incident.
The incident prompted a community-wide lockdown during the afternoon.
RCMP Superintendent Ken Floyd, North District Commander, told The Globe and Mail on Tuesday night that the situation was "rapidly evolving and dynamic." He credited first responders, school staff, and community members for playing a critical role in the response.
